ABOUT US

About us

Muscular Dystrophy is a genetically inherited neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue. This disorder is primarily seen in young adults and children because it is a progressive disorder and symptoms tend to get much worse over time. The focus of the Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Club is to raise awareness for Muscular Dystrophy on the UCD campus and in the community by participating in and planning events, raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and educating others about Muscular Dystrophy and the cutting edge research being done to find a cure. We also promote the annual MDA Camp in which volunteers can apply to become summer camp counselors through the Muscular Dystrophy Association. If you're looking for a club to be passionate about and you're looking to really make a difference, join our club!!
